Winner of the miniature Championship at the Shetland society show. Bred by Mr Howard Hutchings in 1999. Now owned and successfully shown by Mr David Hodge (Halstock and Blackertor Shetland studs).

Stud Information

The Stud was originally founded in 1970 By Mr and Mrs Dennis (Kerswell) who are still Shetland breeders today. Since then the stud has been home to Mr Hutchings (Keensacre), and since 2003 Mrs Ginsberg.
Mrs Ginsberg has been working hard to reinstate the good reputation of the stud and fortunately many of the existing blood lines still remain.
All of the donkeys and ponies bred at the centre have a huge amount of contact with people, making them very friendly and confident.

Stallions At Stud

The Stud is situated within the heart of scenic Dartmoor and covers 80 acres. We have 3 miniature Shetland stallions registered with the SPSBS. All of the stallions provide something different so they cater for many requirements. We also have 2 Mediterranean Miniature Donkey Jacks, registered with the MMDA.

He is by Kerswell Admiral and out of Keensacre Jasmine.

Casper is registered with the SPSBS.

Casper is one of our more nervous ponies he will need an experienced home.

Pan

Pan was born in 2006.
Pan is by Jay of Glebe Farm and out of Birchwood Blueprint.
We have only just added Pan to the Sales list as we did not feel he was ready for rehoming.
We have spent time working with this pony and now think that he can move on.

Bottriell Commet

Commet is by Kerswell Goldfinch and is out of Keensacre Cowslip.
This Filly is halter brocken and has been well handled.
Commet is regestered with the SPSBS.
Commet is not really suitable for breeding.

Swift

Swift is a American Miniature Horse.
Swift is by JBR Prince Charming and out of Birchwood Uk Sapphire.
Swift is registered with IMHPS but not with the American Miniature Horse Assosiation, hence price.
If we were to register her with them we would expect to ask £1300 for her (which we could do if you wish).

Benjy is a cream colt, but he may change colour.

He is by Jay of Glebe Farm and out of Keensacre Silvermist.
Mint is registered with the SPSBS.
We originally kept Mint to run him on as a stallion, but have since chosen another one of are colts, making Mint surplus to requirements.
Mint has been castrated.

Keensacre Jackdaw

2008 Gelding.
He is by Kerswell Admiral and out of Keensacre Bramble.
He is particularly little and uniquely marked.
Jack is registered, and halter broken.

Bottriell Robin

2008 Gelding,
Robin is by Keensacre Yoda and out of Keensacre Naboo.
We will only be able to sell Robin to a home where a donkey is already owned.
There is also the option of him being homed with Monty.

Billy & Dr Pepper

Billy and Dr pepper are registered Mediterranean Miniature Donkeys.
They are both geldings and were born in 2004.
They both have excelent temperaments and have always been brilliant with our customers.
This will be a sad sale, they are being sold for no fault of there own.

He is by Kerswell Sprite and out of Athelney Louise.
Luxton will be regestered, and passported before he is sold.

He is a very light chestnut colt foal.

Bottriell Walter

Walter is a miniature donkey foal.
Walter can only be homed to a home with donkeys, or he could be sold along with Bottriell Robin.
Walter will be registered before he is sold.
Walter can be halter broken, and castrated before he is homed but this will cost extra.
Walter is by Keensacre Yoda and out of Keensacre Naboo.

We have now have a full team of stud and farm staff for the 2009 season.

2009 Foals

We will also have a selection of new foals from May 2009, with prices ranging from £250 to £500 plus Vat for Miniature Shetlands, and £1500 to £3000 plus vat for Mediterranean miniature donkeys.
2009 foals can be reserved right away but cannot be collected until the 1st November.

The reservation process will involve the confirmation by the Stud Manager that you are suitable to own a pony and can offer everything that it will require. After that confirmation, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit. At this point the foal is effectively sold to you, with the remaining balance to pay on collection (please note we cannot provide transportation).

If you wish to have a pony castrated or halter broken there are extra charges, this also means the foals cannot be homed until a later date.
